Rolling Meadows residents are encouraged to contact the Rolling Meadows Police Department whenever they find lost property, such as bicycles, weapons, jewelry and personal items. If a weapon is located, DO NOT touch the weapon, and call 9-1-1 immediately!

Every effort will be made to locate the owners of the recovered property. If the legal owner cannot be located, the finder will be able to make claim to the property after filing a claim with the Cook County Clerk’s Office and waiting the required period of time. Per Illinois State Law, there is a six-month waiting period for property valued at under $100. After the six-month waiting period, the property reverts to the finder.

In cases where the found property is valued at over $100, the finder must wait one year before the property is released to them.
